Gemstone Pendants

I love gemstones for their natural values and their history and just the sheer look of them, but most of all I prefer them in their more natural state or should I say less cultivated state. I feel as though I am much more close to nature with them in this way and not only that for crystal healing purposes they are believed to be far more potent this way than in a more cultivated form.

I have used many different gemstones already in my jewellery but this time I wanted to appeal to those that preferred a more minimal style of jewellery than that of a beaded design. So........ I decided to make some gemstone cluster pendants for those like me that preferred the natural gemstone and hung them on silver plated snake chains for those that wanted a necklace or a white leather bracelet for those that preferred a bracelet.

I have made these in Turquoise, lapis, howlite, quartz and jasper. They are also great gifts for Birthdays and for crystal healing gifts too.

All of the gemstone cluster pendants can be found on my website here.

Turquoise. December's Birthstone.

Turquoise was one of the most popular gemstones used in ancient Egypt. It is said to bestow wealth and happiness on anyone that receives it. The healing properties of turquoise are reputed to be effective for health problems relating to the throat, lungs, asthma, teeth, depression. and infection. Turquoise is also used to enhance creativity, serenity and spiritual bonding. Turquoise is also the birthstone of those born in December. The poem goes.

"If cold December gave you birth
The month of snow and ice and mirth
Place on your hand a turquoise blue
Success will bless whatever you do."

Here is some of my collection of turquoise jewellery. I hope you like it.

Micro macrame

Micro macrame is becoming a very addictive habit lately for me. i just love concocting new recipes of color combinations. I also love the micro macrame wave patterns and how each section of waves falls into another section of waves. The possibilities are just endless. I am an addict.

My latest creations using micro macrame techniques are below. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. However if you are looking for a new hobby or a new craft then I suggest giving micro macrame a try. It's not expensive, it is time consuming and you do need a little patience and you learn by trial and error.

Mens Jewellery

Mens jewellery is normally stylish, simple and often seen in neutral colours. More men today wear jewellery than they did one hundred years ago. Yet in ancient Egyptian times Men were often seeing wearing very glamourous pieces of jewellery. Todays man is not likely to wear the jewellery that ancient Egyptian men wore such as golden arm bands. Men these days often like to wear hemp jewellery and as hemp is also an ancient Egyptian material I have chosen to create three different items of mens jewellery to add to my collection. Mens jewellery is a pleasing gift as a present at Christmas time or for Birthdays for the man in your life as he is not very likely to go out to buy it for himself.

Below are three unisex hemp bracelets which can all be found on my website

Bridal Jewellery. Wedding Jewellery

Bridal jewellery is special, has to be perfect and has to be stunning and also compliment the brides outfit.

Bridal jewellery was also worn by the ancient Egyptian Bride and yes she did wear white. Very often her outfit would be covered in beaded netting, however even though the bride wore white there is no evidence that a wedding ceromony ever took place back in ancient ancient Egyptian times.

My first item of bridal jewellery had to be just perfect and something for a bride to treasure and compliment her outfit but still keeping with Egyptian inspiration in mind.

I chose some lovely cream vintage lace then went on to hand embroider seed beads individaully and carefully on to the lace. The result is as follows. I just wish I was getting married again as I would love to be the wearer of it if it was my wedding day.

I hope to create a few more pieces with the bride in mind you can view the latest bridal jewellery on my new web page.

Ancient Egyptian Jewellery

Ancient Egyptian jewellery is awe inspiring and is probably the inspiration behind many a handmade artist. This week I went along to the World Museum in Liverpool where I saw an amazing collection of Egyptian artifacts including a collection of ancient Egyptian jewellery. It was fanastic to actually view all of these artifacts and also be so close to an ancient Egyptian real Mummy.

Ancient Egyptian jewellery inspired me to create my own Egyptian jewellery and the amazing culture that these people adopted.
Below are many many pictures I took on the day including ancient Egyptian Jewellery.

Enjoy.

The Bakewell Show

The Bakewell Show is one of the oldest agricultural shows in the UK it has around 200 years of history and is a wonderful day out for all the family. It is held in the beautiful peak district of Derbyshire and has entertainment for all the family to enjoy. This year it is to be held over 2 days August the 3rd and 4th.

Amongst many of the horse classes they hold every year this year they are holding classes for ex race horses. These classes are organised through the Ex Racers Club which is a non profit organisation for ex race horses. I actually founded this organisation around 6 years ago and I also have an ex race horse too but more about him on another post. I am very proud to say I am also sponsoring these classes too in Egyptian Inspirations name. If you are in the area or looking for a great day out them go along you won't be dissaponted.

O'h and the answer is yes. That is my horse in the picture above.
