Anck Su Namun Patricia Velásquez

Patricia Velásquez was probaby best known for her role as Anck Su Namun in the Film The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Who could forget her outstanding beauty and the hours it took to paint her fabulous costume. Both of these films and Patricias role in the film helped give me some of the inspiration to create my own jewellery. I can just imagine  Anck Su Namun wearing a lot of my pieces in the film. Can you? I really hope you can.

So what is Patricia doing now. Not only is she she a super model but a succesful actress and  worked in many other films and TV production including  “Le Jaguar”, “Zapata”, “Mindhunters”, “Fidel”, “Committed”, “CSI: Miami”, “Arrested Development”, “Rescue Me”, “Ed” and “American Family”,

Most recently she created the Wayúu Tayá Foundation a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the Wayúu, a Venezuelan indigenous group.

 In 2010, after the devastating Haiti earthquake, she had the Wayuú Tayá Foundation commission a special symbol of hope to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake along with the slogan: Keep the "H" Close to Your Heart - Help Haiti Hope.

Also to help raise funds the foundation has a gift shop which sells I am happy to add handmade goods including Susu woven bags The bags are hand-made by Wayuú indigenous women at Shukumajaya, the foundation's women center that helps educate women on parenting and nutrition, family planning and hygiene.
