Bridal jewellery is special, has to be perfect and has to be stunning and also compliment the brides outfit.
Bridal jewellery was also worn by the ancient Egyptian Bride and yes she did wear white. Very often her outfit would be covered in beaded netting, however even though the bride wore white there is no evidence that a wedding ceromony ever took place back in ancient ancient Egyptian times.
My first item of bridal jewellery had to be just perfect and something for a bride to treasure and compliment her outfit but still keeping with Egyptian inspiration in mind.
I chose some lovely cream vintage lace then went on to hand embroider seed beads individaully and carefully on to the lace. The result is as follows. I just wish I was getting married again as I would love to be the wearer of it if it was my wedding day.
I hope to create a few more pieces with the bride in mind you can view the latest bridal jewellery on my new web page.

Jewellery in a Museum and shop
In just a little over a week a selection of my jewellery is now in a shop and a Museum. I can't believe this could have happened in so little time.
I firstly took the opportunity to "rent a square" in Rosewill's Cottage shop up in Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear where Dawn offers local crafters the oportunity to rent a small area in her bead and homemade goods shop. It's a great little shop full of amazing finds and in a lovely little seaside town.
Here is her shop and the details of the rent a square opportunity.

Secondly another selection of my jewellery is winging its way to Newcastle-Under-Lyme Museum and art gallery where is will be part of an exhibition over the school holidays and maybe even longer.
Here is the link to the Museum

Egyptian Beadwork
Egyptian beadwork was well known for its intricate netting patterns and was used frequently in cuffs, collars and necklaces. The ancient Egyptians used to also make large handmade beaded nets that they wore over their clothes as well. These must have taken days upon days to create.
The ancient Egyptians were excellent beadweavers. Many of thier items can still be seen in museums today.
Recently you may have seen my Anck su Namun bracelets that I created. I wanted to go one step further with a more traditional Egyptian netting design and now know how the ancient Egyptians must have felt when creating their beadwork. You have to have eyes like a hawk, the patience of a saint and be prepared to spend a lot of time on what you are working on. I can honestly say it is very very fiddly.
I must say I am very pleased with these two cuffs I have created and hope you will agree that I think they are pretty spectacular. I was going to create around four or five of these but for now I have just done the two.

Jasper bracelets.
The ancient Egyptians believed Jasper increased sexuality and fertility. When worn as a necklace or bracelet it helped to also relieve exhaustion. Today it is still used for the same benefits in crystal healing.
I recently created three jasper bracelets to add to the collection.

Jasper and silver bracelet.

Handmade Jewellery
Handmade jewellery. Why should you buy handmade jewellery rather that buying from the high street? Lots of reasons.
Next time you are thinking of taking a trip to the high street to buy maybe an expensive individual charm bracelet or a blingy cheap fashion accessory think again. For a fraction of the price on the high street you could have a handmade probably unique one off piece that has been carefully designed and created by hand rather than mass churned out in some far away land by probably underpaid workers. Hand made jewellery artists usually use top quality materials. Very often they will make you a piece to your own requirements as well. Very seldom are they expensive.
Handmade jewellery comes in lots of different shapes and sizes and the choice is just amazing. Take a look at some of the Folksy and Etsy shops I have listed on my blog. You will find plenty to choose from there. You are of coarse welcome to browse my own website as well Egyptian Inspirations for a wide choice of unique handmade jewellery. There are many more handmade jewellery artists to choose from. If you are looking to buy locally then look out for local craft fairs.
Please help support handmade jewellery artists by buying handmade items you could very well end up with a very valuble and treasured family heirloom in the future.
Here are just a small selection of of my own work to show the variety of styles which are available on the market today.

Egyptian Necklaces
I have been working on these two Egyptian Necklaces this week. Both are completley different in style. Egyptian necklaces come in lots of different designs almost as many as I have in my own head.
Firstly is this wonderful deep blue lapis and Czech seed bead necklace which is of the same design as the recent lapis bracelet I recently featured on an earlier post. This is apoximately 16 inches long and sits quite high on the neck almost as a choker would.
My second Egyptian necklace is more of a Egyptian vintage style. Its created with antique brass chain and golden crystals and gold plated seed beads. This also is appoximately 16 inches long and sits quite high on the neck.
I would really appreciate your comments on these two necklaces as to which design you prefer.
I am working on some more Egyptian necklaces at the moment so I will be posting about those too in the next few days.
All my necklaces can be seen on the following page of my website.

Todays creations and thoughts
I have been waiting for some pretty Czech seed beads to arrive, and today was the day they popped through the letter box. (About time too) This meant it's a day of creations. I started with the rose gold coloured pyramids which are such a pretty bead and combined them with the new Czech seed beads and cubic zirconias to come up with this.
After a coffee break I then got the lapis out and made what is my favourite out of todays 3 creations. I hope to incorporate this design into a necklace as I have far more bracelets than necklaces at the moment, but I did particularly like the way this turned out.
After another coffee break. (Yes you guessed it I do enjoy a cup of coffee) I got my lovely hot orange sun beads out along with some bronze filigree beads and came up with this. It has a really vintage feel to it. I have been working with more bronze and copper lately and I really like it. In fact after creating this last piece I went on to order yet more supplies (oops my bank card is straining again) with yet even more designs in mind.
Right that is me for today. I do wish this blogger thingy had a spell checker to check for all my typos though.
