In just a little over a week a selection of my jewellery is now in a shop and a Museum. I can't believe this could have happened in so little time.
I firstly took the opportunity to "rent a square" in Rosewill's Cottage shop up in Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear where Dawn offers local crafters the oportunity to rent a small area in her bead and homemade goods shop. It's a great little shop full of amazing finds and in a lovely little seaside town.
Here is her shop and the details of the rent a square opportunity.

Secondly another selection of my jewellery is winging its way to Newcastle-Under-Lyme Museum and art gallery where is will be part of an exhibition over the school holidays and maybe even longer.
Here is the link to the Museum

Here are just a few items that you will be able to see in the Museum Exhibition.

Egyptian Beadwork
Egyptian beadwork was well known for its intricate netting patterns and was used frequently in cuffs, collars and necklaces. The ancient Egyptians used to also make large handmade beaded nets that they wore over their clothes as well. These must have taken days upon days to create.
The ancient Egyptians were excellent beadweavers. Many of thier items can still be seen in museums today.
Recently you may have seen my Anck su Namun bracelets that I created. I wanted to go one step further with a more traditional Egyptian netting design and now know how the ancient Egyptians must have felt when creating their beadwork. You have to have eyes like a hawk, the patience of a saint and be prepared to spend a lot of time on what you are working on. I can honestly say it is very very fiddly.
I must say I am very pleased with these two cuffs I have created and hope you will agree that I think they are pretty spectacular. I was going to create around four or five of these but for now I have just done the two.

Lucky Egyptian Scarabs
The ancient Egyptians considered the scarab beetle to be lucky. It was the most common worn amulet in ancient Egyptian times. They also considered it sacred. The scarab beetle was believed to create hope and restoration and to ward off evil. These lucky Egyptian scarab amulets were often given as gifts as good luck charms. The scarab was considered to be as important symbol to the ancient Egyptians as the cross is to Christians.
I have created a range of low cost lucky scarab bracelets. These bracelets are both charming and elegant to wear on their own or wear several together to create an exotic and Egyptian costume effect. I hope the wearer of these bracelets has good luck too. To view the full range or request a custom order please se the link below.

Anck Su Namun Jewellery Collection
Many of you that have been following my blog already know I created my first Anck Su Namun bracelet a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have gone on to make three more. Slightly different in design as these are all stretch bracelets and will fit any wrist and as these bracelets look best when worn fitted I thought the next step was to make them all a little more snug to the wrist.
I have made one in bronze. One in black and another in a combination of traditonal Egyptian turquoise, white and bronze colours. I have also gone on to put them all together in their own collection and called them the Ank Su Namun Jewellery Collection. Full details of these bracelets can be found on a special page on my website.

Jasper bracelets.
The ancient Egyptians believed Jasper increased sexuality and fertility. When worn as a necklace or bracelet it helped to also relieve exhaustion. Today it is still used for the same benefits in crystal healing.
I recently created three jasper bracelets to add to the collection.

Anck Su Namun Bracelet Cuff
Anck Su Namun, as a lot of you will already know is an inspiration to my work so I have gone one step futher and created a very special bracelet.
Inspired by and named after Anck Su Namun the character in the films The Mummy and The Mummy returns. This bracelet portrays simalar ladder designs in the costume that Anck Su Namun wore in the two films. It is made from the tiniest galvanised silver seed beads and woven together by hand. It measures approximately 7 inches but can be worn on a larger wrist as it is fastened with three lobster clasps on a silver plated extender chain. More of these bracelets can be made to order in a colour of your choice simply use the contact form on my website to make a request.
This bracelet has taken hours and hours of work and I am already currently working on another in bronze.
This bracelet is also available to purchase on my website. I only have one available at the moment.

Egyptian Gemstone Earrings
The ancient Egyptians loved their semi precious gemstones and used them a lot in thier jewellery. I must admit I love them too and use lapis, amethyst, howlite, jasper and quartz when making a lot of my own pieces. I have been working on some Egyptian gemstone earrings over the past few days and love the way they look when combined with these lovely silver coloured Czech tube beads. I hope you love them too. All of these earrings have now been photographed and put on my website in the earring section below. Here are a few pictures of the Amethyst, lapis and jasper ones. A few more can be seen on my website.

Handmade Jewellery
Handmade jewellery. Why should you buy handmade jewellery rather that buying from the high street? Lots of reasons.
Next time you are thinking of taking a trip to the high street to buy maybe an expensive individual charm bracelet or a blingy cheap fashion accessory think again. For a fraction of the price on the high street you could have a handmade probably unique one off piece that has been carefully designed and created by hand rather than mass churned out in some far away land by probably underpaid workers. Hand made jewellery artists usually use top quality materials. Very often they will make you a piece to your own requirements as well. Very seldom are they expensive.
Handmade jewellery comes in lots of different shapes and sizes and the choice is just amazing. Take a look at some of the Folksy and Etsy shops I have listed on my blog. You will find plenty to choose from there. You are of coarse welcome to browse my own website as well Egyptian Inspirations for a wide choice of unique handmade jewellery. There are many more handmade jewellery artists to choose from. If you are looking to buy locally then look out for local craft fairs.
Please help support handmade jewellery artists by buying handmade items you could very well end up with a very valuble and treasured family heirloom in the future.
Here are just a small selection of of my own work to show the variety of styles which are available on the market today.

Egyptian Necklaces
I have been working on these two Egyptian Necklaces this week. Both are completley different in style. Egyptian necklaces come in lots of different designs almost as many as I have in my own head.
Firstly is this wonderful deep blue lapis and Czech seed bead necklace which is of the same design as the recent lapis bracelet I recently featured on an earlier post. This is apoximately 16 inches long and sits quite high on the neck almost as a choker would.
My second Egyptian necklace is more of a Egyptian vintage style. Its created with antique brass chain and golden crystals and gold plated seed beads. This also is appoximately 16 inches long and sits quite high on the neck.
I would really appreciate your comments on these two necklaces as to which design you prefer.
I am working on some more Egyptian necklaces at the moment so I will be posting about those too in the next few days.
All my necklaces can be seen on the following page of my website.

The Bracelet of Anubis
Who hasn't heard of "The Bracelet of Anubis"? If you haven't then you haven't watched the films The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.
The bracelet of Anubis was worn by the Scorpion King and later to be used to summon the army of Anubis. Later Alex the son of Evie and Rick O'Connell wore the bracelet for most of the film.
"From the minute I put the bracelet on, seven days do I have before the Scorpion King wakes up.
Did you also hear that if you do not enter the pyramid before the sun strikes it on that very morning, that the bracelet will suck the life out of you?"
Imhotep to Alex O'Connell about the bracelet.
This bracelet and many many more of the scenes in this film gave me the inspiration to create my own Egyptian jewellery.
Many ask is this bracelet real? Sadly the answer to that as far as I know is no. However............. it may have not been real in Ancient Egyptian times but it is real today. Sorry I can not take credit for such a creation as this, but a beautiful replica has been created by Toni Stelter.
Here are pictures of her work. The pictures speak for themselves and show the huge amount of talent it must have taken to create this masterpiece. I indeed would be very proud of myself should I have been its creator.
"This bracelet is 6.25" front to back, 9.5" across while in the open position as pictured above."
The attention to detail is outstanding.
Please take time to visit this artisans website to view more of thier work. You won't be dissapointed.

Todays creations and thoughts
I have been waiting for some pretty Czech seed beads to arrive, and today was the day they popped through the letter box. (About time too) This meant it's a day of creations. I started with the rose gold coloured pyramids which are such a pretty bead and combined them with the new Czech seed beads and cubic zirconias to come up with this.
After a coffee break I then got the lapis out and made what is my favourite out of todays 3 creations. I hope to incorporate this design into a necklace as I have far more bracelets than necklaces at the moment, but I did particularly like the way this turned out.
After another coffee break. (Yes you guessed it I do enjoy a cup of coffee) I got my lovely hot orange sun beads out along with some bronze filigree beads and came up with this. It has a really vintage feel to it. I have been working with more bronze and copper lately and I really like it. In fact after creating this last piece I went on to order yet more supplies (oops my bank card is straining again) with yet even more designs in mind.
Right that is me for today. I do wish this blogger thingy had a spell checker to check for all my typos though.
